Y.W.C.A. HOLIDAY HOUSE
FOR SERVICEMEN'S FAMILIES Already 100 women and children have registered for the free camp at Blockhouse Hay which is to he held again this year hy the Y.W.C.A. and Down Town Club for the wives and children of men serving overseas. Plans are now being made to take another 100. The aim is to give a week's holiday to as many as possible, the money being provided by members of the Down Town Club and their friends.
As before, the Y.W.C.A. provides Holiday House for the purpose. It is situated in acres of ground overlooking the Manukau Harbour, and froo transport from the Y.W.C.A. in Queen Street to the camp has been arranged. The camp cooking will be done by a kitchen staiF of two, a trained nurse has volunteered her services for the duration of the holiday, a matron will be provided to supervise, and a youth worker will take charge of the children's activities, and thus enable the mothers to be entirely free.
Two young people's camps will also he run by the Y.W.C.A. Youth Department. One for older girls will be held at Rotorua from December 27 to January 5. The other, for schoolgirls, will be at Blockhouse Bay and will last for a fortnight from January 3.
