CONTENTS OF BOX LETTERS AND PHOTOGRAPHS Evidence that she had opened a box belonging to her husband and had found letters from and photographs of other women in it was given by Alice Mathews (Mr. Vialoux), in support of her petition for divorce from Thomas John Mathews, heard before Mr. Justice Finlay yesterday. Petitioner said they were married in 1930, and there were no children. The respondent was a hide and skin merchant, whose business took him away from their home at Whangaroi twice a week on an average. "When I decided to leave him I decided to open his box," said petitioner. "He had threatened to kill me if I ever did open it." The letters produced were of recent origin. She had never found out who the woman was, although at one time the woman's husband telephoned. Her husband snatched the telephone from petitioner while she was talking to the husband of the woman. A decree nisi was granted. Decrees on the ground of respondent's adultery were granted in the following cases:—Coral Phyllis Thornton (Mr. Hunt), against John Reginald Thornton; Dennis Miles Eteveneaux (Mr. Wallace), against Jean Helen Eteveneaux and Thomas Keinzley. On the ground of separation, decrees were granted in the following cases:—Thelma Beatrice Kcan (Mr. Dickson), against Robert Daniel Kean; Winifred Clark (Mr. Stevens), against Charles Richard Clark; John Edwin Kay (Mr. Hubble), against Kathleen Elizabeth Ray; Jean McXee Allison Mclnnes Cookson (Mr. Schramm) against Thomas Nightingale Cookson; Lily Roso Bowman (Mr. Schramm), against Reginald Jesse Samuel Bowman; George Graham Matthews (Mr. Schramm), against Jjinda Isabelle Matthews; Vivicnno Mary Pivac (Mr. Robinson), against William James Pivac. On the ground of failure to comply with an order for the restitution of conjugal rights, decrees wc;e granted to Gwen Elvira Mooro (Mr. Thomas), against Harold Forrest Curtis Moore; and to Margaret May Wollesen (Mr. Schramm), against Eric Borgc Wollesen. Desertion was the ground of successful petitions by George Victor Charles Lovegrove (Mr. Spring), against Sara Lovegrove; Merle Morgan (Mr. Robinson), against Rowland Jeffrey Morgan; and Joan. Iris Margaret Johnstoi (Mr. Robinson), against Colin Ernest Johnston. A decree was granted by Mr. Justice Fair to Roy Granville McElroy (Mr. Wallace) against Margaret Lillian McElroy, on tho ground of failure to comply with an order for the restitution of conjugal rights.
ORDERS TO RETURN Orders for the restitution of congugal rights were made by Mr. Justice Fair yesterday In favour of John Cecil Andrews (Mr. Webb), against Ruby Violet Andrews; and Leicester William Turner (Mr. Henry), against Theta Roberta Turner. % Similar orders were made b,v Mr. Justice Finlay in the petitions of Charles Stoner Clark (Mr. Aekins), against Freda Irene Clnrk; Adam Archie George Robinson (Mr. Robinson), against Ida Annie Robinson: and Athol Alexander Xigro (Mr. Milliken), against Margnrot Nigro.
