CRICKET IN EGYPT LEADiING NEW ZEALANDERS (N.Z.E.F. Official News Service) CAIRO, Oct. 5 Reviewing the Expeditionary Force's cricket during the past season tho N.Z.E.F. Times stated that the outstanding cricketer of the Second N.Z.E.F. and Middle East was undoubtedly M. P. Donnelly, the ex-Canterbury and New Zealand representative. In five games for the Second N.Z.E.F., Donnelly scored 415 runs, securing an average of 103.3. He took 11 wickets for 113 runs in addition, and set a standard of fielding which placed him in a class of his own. Donnelly also played first-class cricket for the Gezira Sporting C'ub, finishing six games with a remarkable average, and he took 13 wickets for an average of 11.8 runs. New Zealand Expeditionary Forra teams played three games against South Africa, winning two and losing one. Later the Springboks won decisively against "Rest of Egypt" side, which included Donnelly, V. J. Scott and T. Pritchard. The two next best batsmen were Scott, an ex-Auckland and New Zealand representative, and E. A Robinson. W. N. Carson, the team's captain, did not have a good season with the bat, but had more success as a bowler, taking 12 for 103. H. A. Purcell, ex-Wellington, had more hard work during the season than any other bowler, and was always at top form. His best performance was five' wickets for 33 in the first game aginst the South Africans, and he finished the season with 11 for IS7. Pritchard finished with five for 44. J. A. R. Blandford kept jyickets in all the games, showing first-class form -throughout. .
