City led at lialf-time by 7 !»oints to nil. This was the first time this season that Manukau had failed to score in the first spell.

The city forwards controlled the game before the interval, while the backs played like a winning side. In the second spell, however, Manukau kept up a persistent attack, and brilliant individual efforts paved the way for victory. A groat try by Memi between the posts was the turning point in the game. City bad the misfortune to lose FT. Mataira. its best forward, and his absence from the pack gave the Manukau forwards a decided advantage. By this victory Manukau is practically assured of the championship. Martin gave an outstanding display ot clever positional play at fullback for ManiiKau, his defence being superb. Murray played his best game this season, and Hemi was always a thorn in the side of the opposition. The (hreoquarters, Tanmata and Butler, proved excellent attacking backs, and behind the scrum •Major gave splendid service.
