WRESTLING MATCHES

A professional wrestling contest at the Town Hall last evening between Jim Dryden, of Auckland, 17st, and Charlie Ding, of Switzerland, liist, was won by the former by two falls to one. Dryden obtained a fall in the third round with a jack knife, Ding evening in the third with a slam following an aeroplane spin. The deciding fall went to Dryden in the fifth round, with a press after a slara. In a professional preliminary, Bill Mclvor (Auckland), lost 41b, drew with Wes Crowther (United States), 14st 81b, each securing one fall. The amateur preliminaries resulted:—E. Moore, list, beat E. Ryland, 9st 61b, by one fall; V. Rawle, lOst 4lb, drew with W. Williamson, 9s t 101b, one fall each. Leading Aircraftman J. McLean was referee for the professional bouts, and Mr. F. Murphy for the amateurs. There was a fair attendance. FAST MILE RUN NEW YORK, July 25; At tho Harvard Stadium, Cambridge (Massachusetts), Gunder Haegg. the Swedish champion runner ran a mile in 4m 5 3-10s.
