ASSOCIATION GAMES In spite of the wintry conditions play in the Auckland Football Association's competitions on Saturday afternoon maintained a high standard and exciting and spectacular finishes were recorded. The Iwo Service sides, Garrison and Pa pa k lira Camp, were seen in action at Blandford Park. The former, which was soundly beaten by Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys A the previous week, played a hard-fought draw with Comrades in the early game, which was full of thrills. Prior to the start of the main afteraction between Pa pa k ura Camp and Melro-Oollege, both teams stood in silence as a tribute to the Into Mr. Hope Fide, who died during the week.

Play started at a fast pace and this was maintained throughout. Papakura was well served by Wilson, at centre-half, who placed the ball to advantage and tackled with certainty. A feature of the Papakura attack was the shooting from any direction when within 20 yards of the goal and Gordon, in the Metro citadel, had a hectic time, but emerged with honours front hard and difficult shots. Hope Ede at centre, and XI. Speed were always dangerous for "Metro.
