CENTEE TOURNAMENT THREE ROUNDS DECIDED Three rounds wcro decided yesterday in the Easter tournament of Uio Auckland Bowling Contre in the executive fours, Easter open fours, _ intermediate fours, and first-year players' fours. Conditions were good, an occasional shower not interfering with the play. .1 lie games wero played over 19 heads instead of the usual 21, this proving a popular innovation. SENIOR LEAGUE TEAMS A decision to commence the senior grade competition on May 1. with nine teams, instead of tlie proposed amalgamation scheme for six, was arrived at at the last meeting of the Auckland Rugby League. The deputychairman, Mr. E. J. Phclan, said the trial games had been very successful, and tho prospects for I tie season looked bright. It was agreed that a review of the strength of the senior teams be made before the second round commences, with the object of determining the composition of the senior grade competition for the remainder of the season. The senior officers' association reported that it was not desired to play any games to-day. Arrangements, however, were made to play practice games at Carlaw Park. Messrs. A. J, McGregor, W. Newton; Otahuhu, a bye THE ASSOCIATION GAME 'Tho control board of the Auckland I'ootliall Association decided that ten first division teams should take part in a qualifying round next Saturday. The senior division committee reported that it had decided to add the only entry in the second grade that of Mount Albert Grammar Old Bovs'to the nine entries for the first, division. After playing the qualifying round the championship proper will commence with a full round by the first six teams, matches to be provided for the remaining four teams. The grading of the latter was referred to tho senior division committee Following upon a report from the junior management committee, it was agreed that clubs be asked to endeavour to finalise their lower grade teams next week. It was also reported that the junior competitions would commence on May 8. An application was received from the Seddon Memorial technical College for the use of Blandford Park on Tuesday afternoons for practice and it was agreed'to grant the use or the ground free of charge. The question of the admittance of men in uniform to Blandford Park was discussed arid it was decided that the usual charges should be paid, except by returned men in uniform, who will be admitted free.
