TO-DAY'S SPORT CRICKET AND ATHLETICS A varied programme of sports events will be decided in Auckland this afternoon. The Auckland Cricket Association's senior knockout competition matches will he continued at Eden Park, when the contests which were postponed last week will he decided. The principal match is between Grafton-Y.M.C.A. and Parnell, two of the unbeaten teams, on the No. 3 wicket. The other undefeated side. Eden-Ponsonby-Balmoral, will play Univer-sity-Middlemore on the No. 4 wicket. Knockout matches under the control of the City and Suburban Association will also be continued, the chief fixture at the Domain being between Air Force and M.T.P.A on the No. 1 pitch Two amateur athletic championship meet ing-s are set. down for to-day. The Allied Services' championships will be held at Sarawia Park, Newmarket New Zealanders in the Northern Military District will compete against overseas visitors. Events for women in the various branches of the forces are also included. The annual inter-secondary schools' championships will be held at Eden Park, heats being decided this morning and the finals this afternoon, commencing at i! o'clock. The Rugby League season will be opened with a series of preliminary matches at Carlaw Park between affiliated clubs. Richmond and Otahuhu will meet in the principal contest, while the curtain-raiser is between City and Mount Albert. CROQUET COMPETITIONS The Auckland Croquet Association's com petitions were continued yesterday. Results were:—Mrs. Robinson beat Mrs. Cole. Mrs. Clarke beat Mrs. Neil. Mrs. Rotherham beat Mrs Wymer, Mrs. McAnulty and Mrs Clarke, Mrs. Baker (Carlton) heat Mrs Elli? Mrs. Wymer and Mrs. Clarke, and won the title of Auckland champion of champions. B button: Mrs. Baston beat Mrs. Grove, and Mrs. Dye, Mrs. Crawford beat Mrs. Long Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Knowles. C button: Mrs. Michel beat Mrs Penderffrast. Mrs. Booth beat Mrs. Lever, Mrs. White beat Mrs, Galloway, Mrs Morrin beat Mrs. Baume, Mrs. Wadsworth beat Mrs. Roe.
