Norwegian Submarine Lost.—A Norwegian naval communique announces that the submarine Tiredd is overdue and must be presumed lost. Chinese Women Conscripted.—For the first time in her history China is to conscript women. A new law requires all Chinese women between the ages o[ IS and 45 to .join one of the auxiliary services for the duration of the war Rule in Eire.—The last, relic of British rule in Eire vanishes this month when the office of Ulster King-at-Arms in Dublin Castle will be wound up. The odice was created in 1552. Valuable heraldic documents, formerly under this official's cure, will bo transferred to an Irish State Department "Fires Were Started." —Having put on the screen the story of the Bomber Command in "Target for To-night" and the Coastal Command in the film of that name, the Crown film unit has now completed "Fires Were Started." made to show the work of the men who fought the severe raids on British cities in 1910 Profit Margins.—Australian retailers state that the prices for women's and girls' outer garments have been placed under a new form of control in order to limit profits. New profit margins for retailers will be as follows: —On garments where the cost does not exceed £l, 45 per cent; where the cost exceeds £l. but not £2. 55 per cent; where the cost exceeds £2, G5 per cent. Allied Nationals in Britain. —About 10.000 aliens of military age now in Britain will be affected by an Order-in-Council coming into operation on April 1. They are all Allied nationals who will be called to serve in British forces (the Pioneers' Corps) unless any individual has been granted a certificate of exemption by his own Government or by that date has joined his own , national foroes.
