INFANT'S FATE
DROWNED IN TROUGH PLAYING NEAR HER HOME (0.C.) WAIUKTJ, Wednesday An infant was found drowned in 15 indies of water in a concrete trough near lier home at Orua Bay yesterday. She was Mary Oathrine Wedding, aged 16 months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Wedding. The child was playing with her two-year-old brother near her father, who was sawing wood about five chains from the house. Shortly afterward Mr. Wedding noticed that the child had gone, and he and his wife made an immediate search They found her lying face downwards in a trough about 20 yards from where Mr. Wedding had been working. Artificial respiration was applied without success. An inquest was opened before Mr. J' V. Oakden, coroner, and adjourned.
