AUCKLAND EXCHANGE MARKET OPENS CONFIDENTLY, The week was opened confidently on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, when a substantial turnover was recorded, with recent values generally maintained and supplemented by further advances in some cases. Investors again made inquiries over a wide range and sales were registered of Beath's (Christchurch) and Hadfield's, of Sydney (formerly Australian Alloy Steel), which had not been transferred locally for a considerable period. Government stocks and banks were steady, but the demand for insurances was less keen. Higher offers were made for Westport Stockton coal shares. CLOSING QUOTATIONS
