SYDNEY'S PLIGHT BAKING INDUSTRY DISPUTE SYDNEY, March 18 It will be a week to-morrow night since bread was baked in Sydney in any substantial quantity, and as there is no indication of an early settlement, of the baking industry dispute, it is likely that the bread famine will continue indefinitely. Members of the Baking Trades ICinplovees" Federation. * *it a largely-attended meeting in the Trades Hall yesterday, reaffirmed their decision, with one dissentient only, that they would not begin work before 6 a.m. The hour for starting work according to the award is .'?..'io a.in The striking bakers were condemned yesterday bv mothers of large families in industrial suburbs, whose children have been without bread since last Sunday. They are trying to make damper, scones and biscuits as substitutes, but bread is the staple food in these homes, and flour and milk are difficult to buy. ; The Industrial Commission will further consider the dispute to-day.
