POSITION UNCERTAIN MANPOWER AND ARMY CLAIMS TO BE REVIEWED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday The Minister of National Service, the Hon. A. McLagan, stated to-day that, while men of the 41 to 45 age group are now being called up for militar} service, nevertheless the whole question of the proper utilisation of manpower in New Zealand is to be reconsidered by the War Cabinet early in the new year. Therefore, no man called up to-day should take any action oi leave his present employment until further notice. It has been decided that the medical examination of this group will not commence until February 1 and by that time the question of the posting of the men concerned to the armed forces will have been considered in the light of a survey of the general manpower requirements of the Dominion. THE 41-45 AGE GROUPS 5748 AUCKLAND NAMES A total of 5748 names from the Auckland area are included in the Dominion list of 31,997 gazetted for military service to-day. The names are those of married men, with children, of the 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45 age groups, which will mean the completion of the first and second divisions of the general reserve, leaving for future ballots only those who become eligible as they reach the age of 18 or for any other reason. The number of men called from the four military areas which comprise the province, Auckland, Paeroa, Whangarei and Hamilton is 11.020. In addition to the married men the ballot includes the names of those who have entered the general reserve since the last ballot. Appeals against service may be lodged up to and including January 11.
