THE LEAGUE CODE

EOOPE ROOSTER FINAL RICHMOND TEAM'S SUCCESS In a keen game at Carlaw Park on Saturday Richmond won the Auckland Rugby Leaguo's Roope Rooster trophy by defeating Marist-North Shore by 13 points to 6. There was a good attendance. Richmond led at halftime by 10 points to 3. The play was hard throughout, although the standard was not high. Richmond qualified to play Manukau in the champion of champions fixture next Saturday. Solid forward play was a feature of the game, but there was little constructive work by the backs. The Richmond backs were slightly superior on attack and they scored two good tries. Marist-North Shore had a territorial advantage in the second spell, but its backs failed in the last 20 minutes to break through tho defence. Magill, fullback, was the best of the Richmond backs, his fielding being very certain. The five-eighths, McDonald and W. Robertson, made occasional bright dashes and McGregor, the centre, did well with limited opportunities. Kinney, wingthreequarter, was hurt and taken oft early in the game. Among the forwards Crookall played well in the loose, and both Sale and Davies were also prominent. Graham, Fields and Breed deserve credit for excellent forward play for the losing team. Tries for Richmond were scored by Kinney, Sale and McGregor, Magill converting two. Penman and McWilliams scored for North Shoro.
