Auckland deserved its victory for the reason that the players opened up the game at every opportunity. They threw the ball on the line-outs well into the field of play and hurled it about with rare abandon in the open, the transfers as often as not landing in tho hands of the opposition Pike hooked the ball for Auckland in the majority of the scrums. The Aucklanders lasted better than their opponents. A feature of the game was the fine displays given by the fullbacks, hingstone (Wellington) and Sorenson (Auckland), who scarcely made a mistake.
