LADY GAI/WAY GUILD DOMINION EXECUTIVE MEETS A meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Lady Gnlway Patriotic Guild was held at Government House, Wellington. Her Excellency. Lady Newall, who takes the keenest interest in the work, is president of the guild and presided at the meeting. The report of the safe arrival of some hundreds of cases of clothes was received from the Women's Voluntary Services, England, which distributes the clothes from New Zealand as they arrive. sThe thanks of the Women's Voluntary Services and of the many recipients of clothing was expressed. About 27,450 garments from the Dominion were received and distributed in England for a period of three months. Cases continue to bo sent while shipping space is available, and all branches are urged to continue their good work. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE HAMILTON ASSOCIATION (0.C.) HAMILTON, Wednesday A successful year was reviewed at the annual meeting of the Hamilton branch of St. John Ambulance Association. The financial position had been considerably strengthened by the appointment of life members. The association's vehicles had carried 1082 patients to hospital and had covered 23,673 miles, or an average (it 23 miles a trip. Twenty-four first-aid classes had been held and 595 candidates had received instruction, while the nursing division, with a membership of 64, had done a great deal of work. A voluntary aid corps, with 30 mem-

bers, had also done well. There were 60 members in the Hamilton Brigade, 41 in the Frankton Brigade and 90 in the cadets. Accumulated funds totalled £2146. Income exceeded expenditure by £226. CATHOLIC WOMEN A resume of the charitable and patriotic work carried out by members of tho Catholic Women's League during the past year was reviewed by the president. Mrs. M. Pilling, when presiding at the 11th annual meeting of the league. Mrs. Pilling expressed her gratitude to conveners of circles, guilds and committees for their comprehensive reports of a splendid year of service, and to all members and friends for their generous assistance and co-operation. The patron of the league, Bishop Listou, paid a high tribute to the untiring zeal and energy of members, and to their capability in meeting the needs of the times while upholding the high ideals of the league. G Buckley, of Karakariki, Frankton Junction, announce the engagement of their only daughter, Olwyn, to Leading-Aircraftman Jack Phillip Ritchie, Royal New Zealand Air Force, eldest son 01 Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Ritchie, of Ouruhia, Christchurch.
