SOLDIEBS' PAKCELS

1048 FROM WAIKATO (0.c.) HAMILTON. Friday

Organised by Mrs. H. Ross, a working bee was held at the Waikato Winter Show buildings to pack parcels for soldiers overseas.

There was a large attendance ot representatives of women's organisations, and in two hours the 1048 parcels allotted to Hamilton were packed and prepared for despatch overseas. The parcels contained a wide variety of suitable gifts. TRAINING PLAN WELFARE AND RECREATION Leaders' certificates for their training under the Government scheme tor phvsical welfare and recreation have been gained by 14 young women in the Waikato district. The Minister oi Internal Affairs, the Hon. W- E- Parr.. , stated that the leaders' certificate was based on both a practical and a theoretical course. Trainees were required to undergo 100 hours at least o training and certificates were granted to all who reached the prescribed standard of efficiency. GRAMMAR OLD GIRLS Members of the Auckland Grammar School Old Girls' Association held their annual reunion dinner. Among the guests welcomed by the president, Mrs. K. Aimer, were a former mistress, Mrs. S Heap, and the patron of the association, Miss E. M. Johnston. A talk on memories of the school was gnen y Miss Cecil Hull and a programme ol entertainment was contributed by -Irs. Alan Pow. Miss Myrtle Burns and Miss P. Falvev. The accompanists were Mrs. H. S.
