LEAGUE FOOTBALL
SEASON OPENS TO-DAY Bright play is anticipated at Carlaw Park this afternoon when the Auckland Rugby League will open its season. Preliminary matches will be held and the chief attraction, between Richmond and Ponsonby, should prove fast and interesting. Xewton and Mount Albert will meet in the curtain-miser. In the chief match on the No. 2 gTound Otabuhu will have an opportunity of proving its calibre against the City team. Tha curtain-raiser is between Marist and Norm Shore. Several new players aro expected to participate in to-day's matches.
