ELECTRIC CABLES
CONSERVATION OF STOCKS (P.A.) . "WELLINGTON, Thnrsday Regulations have been gazetted to control the sale of certain types of electric cables. The Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, states that this action was necessary owing to the serious overseas supply situation. The defence building programme required large quantities of cables, and it was probable that sales of existing stocks for domestic and commercial purposes would be rationed. The regulations called for the return of stocks to the Building Controller at Wellington of all electric cables (other than hard-drawn copper overhead conductors, underground electric supply cables, telephone wires and cables and cotton-covered, silk covered and asbestos-covered, or enamelled wire), held by merchants, electrical contractors, power boards and others throughout New Zealand.
