Photographic Collection From a bequest by the late Mr. J. D. Richardson, honorary photographer to the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the museum has received his valuable collection of photographs of old Auckland, which show the growth of the city. It has also received lantern slides which will be invaluable to schools. Body Not Recovered A widespread search by the harbour police for the body of Mr. A. W. Haydon, who is believed to have been drowned in the boating accident off Eastern Beach on Sunday, has not been successful. The police launch Tiromoana continued a thorough search of the lower harbour yesterday, but returned at nightfall with nothing to report. School Telephones To a request by the Auckland Headmasters' Association that a telephone should be installed in all schools in the city and suburbs for use in emergency, tha Education Department has replied that it might be possible to connect schools in the most vulnerable areas. The Auckland Education Board has decided to approach the Post and Telegraph Department on the matter. Long Service on Committee Twenty-seven years continuous service as i member of the school committee of Maungawhau School, Mount Eden, by Mr. J. G. Turner, of 72 Balmoral Road, was recorded in the report of the committee presented to last night's meeting of householders. It was stated that Mr. Turner, who was not seeking re-election, first became a member when the Mount Eden and Maungawhau schools were jointly controlled by the one committee. Millions Spent on Pictures The fact that nearly 31,500,000 admission tickets to picture theatres were sold in the Dominion last year was mentioned during the hearing of the front-of-house employees' dispute before Mr. Justice Tyndall in the Arbitration Court yesterday. Of the total, 11,500,000 tickets were sold in the northern industrial district which the present award covered, the average admission price being 16.9 d. The director, Professor E. It. Hudson, said that the Air Force was taking so many young women that few were attracted to farming work. Mr. H. S.
