HOME GUARD SERVICE
TRANSFERS FROM E.P.S. t (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Wednesday To fulfil the requirements of the Army authorities it is expected that within tho next week a Ministerial order will bo mad© calling on certain classes of personnel to apply for enrolment in the Home Guard. Although no official announcement has been made, it is understood that between 2000 and 3000 men may be directed to transfer from_ the Wellington Emergency Precautions Service to the Home Guard. They will probably be called up ui age groups, with provision for certain exemptions, including key personnel or the E.P.S., and will he selected by a committee consisting of one representative of the E.P.S., one represents* tive of the Home Guard, and one rep* resentative of the National Service Department, who will examine the applications for enrolment. It is probable that the interview will determine the men most suitable for Home Guard service. Direction to enrol in the Home Guard will probably DO applied first in the Wellington fiJ" ea alone, to he followed by similar action in other districts'as required.
