CARELESS RACEGOERS
The carelessness of racegoers was emphasised at the Feilding Jockey Club's meeting, which was held on the Marton racecourse on Easter Saturday and Monday. The announcer was kept busy in between races broadcasting lost and found notices. On Saturday at least a dozen small children were lost in the crowd. A suggestion that parents should keep their children on a leash seemed to have the desired effect on the second day, for only three small boys were reported missing. But in keeping an eye on their offspring patrons overlooked their belongings. Inquiries were made for two rings of keys three railway tickets, two pairs of gloves, a lady's bag, an umbrella, two dole Dooks, a gold cross, a gauntlet and two racebook covers.
