St; : : I KILLED IN ACTION AUCKLAND YACHTSMAN An Auckland yachtsman, Ordinarygeaman Andrew Cecil Dick, who was training with the Royal Navy under Scheme B, has been killed in action, according to information received by his sister, Miss I. M. Dick, of 14 Amaru Road, Onehunga./ Ordinary Seaman Dick came to New Zealand from Ulster as a child. Leaving last year for Britain, he trained in HM.S. Ganges, and was later posted to a warship. He was a keen yachtsman and owned the 14-footer Tempest. He was a member of f-lie St. George's Rowing Club and the Waitemata Swimming ' and Life-saving Club. He also competed in the swimming, water-polo and surf life-saving contests during the centennial sports in Wellington. . IN3INEER MISSING STATIONED'IN SINGAPORE Since the surrender of Singapore news of his son. Flight-Lieutenant Charles George Rudd, has been awaited hy Commandant C. J. Rudd, of the Newton Salvation Army. The airman was last seen by his wife in Singapore on the day of the surrender, when she was evacuated on the last boat which left for Western Australia. A prominent student in engineering and science, Flight-Lieutenant Rudd is 35 years of age and received his early . education at Epsqm School and Seddon ; Memorial Technical College. He gained his M.Sc. degree at _ Auckland University College and his B.E. degree at

Flight-Lieutenant C. G. Rudd Canterbury University College. He later gained his A.M.I.E.E. (London) and A.M.I.R. (America). About seven years ago he went to England as an electrical engineer and four years ago was made the Malayan general manager for a large English engineering firm. Two years ago he joined the Royal Air Force in Malaya. His wife, who comes from Christchurch and who is at present in Sydney, was nursing with the Medical Aid Service in the Far East.
