HELMETS FOR E.P.S.
A hitch in the manufacture in Christchurch of steel helmets for E.P.S. workers was reported to the general committee of the E.P.S. by the chairman of the organising committee. Ho said that seven tons of steel, bought with the authority of the Government, had been taken away under Government instructions after the dies were ready and the linings had been made. Auckland and Wellington were reported to be using steel of the type taken away from Christchurchj and the organising committee had written to the Government asking that Christchurch should have its share.
