STRAWBERRY SEASON
The strawberry season, which is practically finished, has lasted for_a record period, stated a representative of a produce firm yesterday. He said that although fairly consistent supplies came forward riaht up to the end, the qnanf - '.v handled was the smallest in the lust, 20 years. This position arose as the result of the scarcity of labour, and prospects for next year's crop would depend on the amount of expert labour available. Prices had been exceptionally hi eh. The small quantity offered at the City Markets yesterday sold at 2s to 2s lOd a chip.
