OBITUARY

MR. F. E. FLATT (0.C.) PAEROA, Tuesday The death lias occurred of Mr. Frederick Ernest Flatt. aged 72, of Paeroa, a well-known resident of the goldfields district, having lived in Karangahake, Wiiikino, and, for the past 30 years, in Paeroa. He was associated with local body activities for practically the whole of that period, having served 011 the Paeroa Borough Council and the Thames Valley Electric-Power Board. He was a justice of the peace and had been district coroner for 20 years. Be was for several years president of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club. Mr. Flatt is survived by his wife and three 6ons. MRS. 8. A. CRAWFORD (0.C.) TE AWaMUTU, Tuesday The dentil has occurred at Te Mawhai of Mrs. Sarah Ann Crawford, aged 79. Born at Newhaven, England, Mrs. Crawford arrived in New Zealand 66 years ago with her parents in the ship Jessie Osbourne and first took up quarters in the barracks in Princes Street. Auckland, In May, 1885, she married Captain A. Crawford and she and her husband, took up a block of land at Matakana, Whangaripo Valley, North Auckland, where they experienced all the vicissitudes of the pionoers. Mrs. Crawford is survived by eight children.
