AUCKLANDER'S DEATH

MR, JOHN ADAMS The death of Mr. John Adams occurred yesterday at his home, Dunmore, 30 Owens Road, Epsom. Born in Devonshire, Mr. Adams had been in the meat trade for the greater part of his life. He came to New Zealand in I*6BB, working for short periods in Christchurch, Wellington and Hawera, before coming to Auckland in 1894. He founded the bacon-curing firm of J. Adams and Company. For the last 20 years he had been living in retirement. Mr. Adams was a member of the Auckland Club and the Auckland Racing Club. He had been a member and served on the committee of the Pakuranga Hunt for 40 years, being made a life'member. He was particularly keen on pheasant and duck shooting. and in his .younger days played bowls and tennis. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife and an adult family of four sons and four daughters.
