GAME OF BOWLS

PAIKS CHAMPIONSHIP AUCKLAND CENTRE'S EVENT The annual pairs championship of the Auckland Bowling Centre was commenced yesterday, the greens of eight clubs being occupied by the teams comprising 15 sections. The weather was fine, but a strong westerly wind made good judgment essential, especially on those greens where it blew crosswise. Four rounds were played yesterday and there will be three more to-day. The winners of sections and those tieing for the lead will take part in post-section play at the Carlton green tomorrow. The latter will bu on the suddendeath principle. Wright (two lives), 16, and in the second game Walkin. 17, v. Wright, 13. Watkin thus won the championship singles for 1942. Epsom -Semi-finals: Richmond beat Graham; Buchan beat Braithwaite. Final: Buchan beat Richmond on the 20th head. An all-day tournament resulted in a win for Hollis. Thompson. Moses and A. Wright, with five wins. Kaukapakapa,—The singles championship was won by C. E. Earle, and the first-year championship by A. J. S. Hunter.
