ART PATRON'S DEATH
MR. R. E. McDOUGALL [by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday The death has occurred of Mr. Robert Euing McDougall. aged 81, of Christchurch.
Mr. McDougall, governing director of Aulsebrook and Company, Limited, and owner of Brookdale sheep station, Parnassus, was born in Melbourne and came to Christchurch in 1863. He was educated at Charles Cook's Private School and Christ's College. Besides being a director of a number of Christchurch companies, Mr. McDougall was a patron, or officer, of many semipublic and philanthropic bodies. He was a keen art collector and in 1928 gave £30,000 to the City of Christchurch for the establishment of the McDougall Art Gallery. A founder of the Shirley Golf Club, Mr. McDougall was its president on two occasions.
