MEAT, BUTTER AND GRAIN (OC.) CHRISTCH I'Rt'H. Sunday Last season's meat is no longer occupying storage space in Canterbury freezing works, according to a statement hv Mr. F. Coop at a meeting of the Canterbury Progress League. "That must be encouraging to the farmers: that there are bare boards for this year." said the chairman, Mr R. T McMillan. In reviewing statements by the Minister for Agriculture, Mr McMillan said he had gathered that while more wheat and other grain crops were required, an increase in the production of meat and butter was not considered so essential. The sooner a plan of production was announced the better. Mr I. L. M ( "oop defied anyone to predict what produce would he required overseas in three months' time. The United States had to get meat from countries free of foot-and-mouth disease. Tf shipping became available all the meat New Zealand had would be taken by Britain and the United States.
