MATAMATA MEETING VOLIFOX WINS THE CUP TE TAKINA TAKES SPRINT Fine weather favoured the Matamata Racing Club's Annual Meeting on Saturday and there was a large attendance The course was fast. The totalisator handled £27,971 10s, compared •with £81,978 10s last year, a decrease of £4007. The win favourite Besiege scored decisively in the Tirau Hurdles after leading throughout. Kaimanawa and Northlander followed him closely in the middle stages, when the field was strung out, but they tired after reaching the turn, and it was left to Stokowski and Cappy to fill the minor places.
