MEN IN MERCHANT NAVY

[BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Monday It is officially announced that it has been decided to extend the scheme whereby telegrams of an urgent private nature may be despatched by next-of-kin to naval personnel, so that next-of-kin or personnel serving in the British merchant navy outside New Zealand waters may communicate with them in cases of urgency. The charge for these messages is at the rate of od a word for the text and signature with a minimum of 2s 6d. No charge is made for the address, but the text is limited to 12 words. It is emphasised that the messages must be of an urgent nature and on essential private business.
