Advice has been received by Mrs. Alys Osborne, of' Birkenhead, of the death in action of her husband, Private Gordon Bert Osborne, youngest son of Mr A. G. Osborne, M.P. for Manukau. ->#■ Private Osborne was 22 and was educat<kl at the Northcote primary and rj , high schools. He played Rugby league - football for a nuijiber of years for the - Northcote and later the Ellerslie clubs. »' He went overseas with an early reinforcement draft and after arrival in A Egypt was posted to the 18th (Auck- - land) Battafion.
