SUNDAY MEETINGS

OTAHUHU COUNCIL'S BAN A renewed application by the New Zealand Society for Closer Relations with Russia for permission to hold a Sunday night meeting, and a request that the council receive a deputation to discuss such proposals, were rejected by the Otahuhu Borough Council. A decision not to grant permits for Sunday meetings was reached at the last council meeting. In its further letter the society submitted that no harm could result from receiving a deputation. The council also decided to abide by its former resolution not to grant the local amateur athletic club the use of floodlights in Sturges Park for night sports meetings.
