HIDING IN CRETE
WHANGAREI SOLDIER (0.C.) WITANGAREt, Sunday News that ono of his sons who was posted ns missing after the lighting in Crete was seen in a village in the hills on the island by a New Zealand soldier who has since escaped from Crete lias been received by Mr, E. 11. Jjambert, of Whangarei. Air. and Mrs. Lambert have three sons with tho New Zealand Forces overseas. One son, Driver George Lambert, is with his unit in tho Middle Mast, while Private Gerald Lambert managed to make his escape from Crete after being posted as missing. The other son is Private Arthur Lambert . \ ,\t• w Zealand soldier has written that lie saw him with two other New Zealanders hiding in a cave near a village in the mountains. They were well supplied with food and were waiting for an opportunity to escape from the island. The writer stated that, he, with another soldier, was able to secure a boat and so get away from Crete and back to Egypt.
