UNCHANGED DIVIDEND CHAIRMAN ON PROSPECTS The directors of Broken Hill South, Limited, have declared an interim halfyearly dividend of .Is a share, unchanged, payable December 18. Speaking at the annual meeting in Melbourne on Friday, the chairman, Sir Colin Fraser, said that the directors intended to lost no opportunity, either on the company's account or in association with oilier interests, to investigate and. if they considered justified, to acquire another mining property or enter upon suitable industrial projects. He informed shareholders that they could hardly expect a continuation of dividends at the present rate while existing conditions continued. He believed that output and production for the current year would be about the same as last'year. Costs of production and realisation could not be expected to decrease, but, if nothing unforeseen happened, gross profit on working account should not fall far short of that of last year, assuming an average grade of ore. In the investment section, revenue from investments must be expected to show a decline. HIDES FOR AUSTRALIA ARRANGEMENT WITH MR. NASH SYDNEY. Oct.- 25 The Minister for Supply, Mr. Beasley, made arrangements in Melbourne yesterday with the New Zealand Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, for Australia to receive hides and leather from New Zealand, and for New Zealand to take part of Australia's exportable sugar surplus.
