MILITARY WEDDING
CH ITTY —SCHOFI ELD BRIDE'S MARQUISETTE GOWN The wedding took place at St. Aldan's Church. Remuera, on Saturday afternoon, of Miss Winifred Laura Schofield, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. ,1. Schofield, Lochiel Road, Remuera, and Lieutenant Ronald Geoffrey Chitty, second son of Mr. and Mrs. G. de Vere Chitty, of Hamilton. Canon R. L. Connolly officiated. During the service a solo was sung by Miss Gloria Nehoff. A charming frock of white marquisetto was worn by the bride, who was given away by her father. The long sleeves, the corsage and the bouffant skirt were pintuckcd and inset with Valenciennes lace. Her finger-length veil fell from a Juliet cap ol orange blossom, and the bride carried a white prayer book, from which fell a_ trail of double white tea-tree and lily-of-the-valley. The bridesmaids, Miss Joan Schofield and Miss Joan Synies, were in picture frocks of ice-blue organdie, dotted with white, over blue taffeta. They wore sprays of pink tea-tree and carnations on their heads and carried Victorian
bouquets of the same flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. M. Howe, of Gisborne, as best man, and by Second-Lieutenant R. 0. Chitty, as groomsman. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. To receive her guests Mrs. Schofield wore a tunic frock of black craquelle and a small black hat finished with pink rosebuds. She carried a bouquet of pink roses. In the absence of the bridegroom's mother through ill-health, her daughter. Mrs. J. T. Hawke, of Hamilton, assisted Mrs. Schofield. Mrs. Hawke was wearing a midnight blue frock and a matching hat. Mrs. R. J. W. Schofield. the bride's grandmother, was in black georgette and lace and a black hat. CEREMONY AT ELLERSLIE G RIFFJ X—WINTHR OP The wedding took place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Ellerslie, on Saturday afternoon, of Miss Joan Winthrop, second daughter of Mr, and Mrs. H. S. Winthrop, Campbell Road, Green Lane, and Private John Griffin, Second Xew Zealand Expeditionary Force, son of Mrs. E. M. Griffin and the late Mr. Griffin, of King Country. Monsignor T. Lane officiated. During the service the Panis Angelicus was sung by Miss Lorna Forsman. A charming ensemble of bridal blue satin-backed crepe, with roulette work on the collar, belt and cuffs, was worn by the bride, who was given away by her father. Her blue felt hat was finished with a posy of flowers and she carried a bouquet of cornflowers and white roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Shirley Winthrop. wore a beige suede frock with a tucked bodice and a pleated skirt. Her turban of cyclamen and pink flowers matched her bouquet. The bridegroom was attended by Corporal George Silverwood, Royal Xew Zealand Air Force. A reception was held later at the home of the bride's sister. Mrs. 0. L. Weir, Ridings Road, Remuera. Airs. Winthrop received her guests wearing an ensemble of deep delphinium blue crepe with a matching hat. Her bouquet was in cyclamen tonings. Mrs. Griffin, the mother of the bridegroom, wore a floral frock with a black georgette coat and black hat. Mrs. Weir was wearing a black wool georgette suit and a black straw beret with a diamante clasp.
