INNER CITY AREA

IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS Taking the opportunity given by the Auckland Harbour Board's review of its system of leasing, the City Council proposes to ask the board's concurrence in carrying out certain minor street improvements in the central city area. The Town-planning Committee recommended last night that strips of land be acquired to widen Fort Street Lane and Gore Street from 20ft. to 26ft.; that the corner of Beach Road and Gittos Street be cut back, and that the question of street alignments in the area be taken up with the board, particularly with reference to Customs.
