WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
BAY OF ISLANDS MEMBERS The Bay of Islands Federation of Women's Institutes held its haltyearly council meeting recently, when 15 institutes were represented. Mrs. M. Ericker presided and extended a special welcome to Mrs. M. E. Johnston, Dominion organiser of Maori institutes. A feature of the day's programme was a display of treasures and antiques. Sam [lies of work being done by the institutes for war purposes were also displayed, those including garments of home-spun wool. A demonstration of spinning was given by one of the members. The programme concluded with a pageant of nations.
