GOOD FIELDS ENGAGED SEVERAL VISITING HORSES RECORD OF EPSOM CANDIDATES BY ABAYDOS With an average of 17 horses in each of eight races, splendid fields are carded for the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club's Spring Meeting which will open at Epsom on Saturday. Additional interest will be- given to the racing by the presence of a number of visiting competitors. Tho visiting horses include Steel King, Te Roto, Short Wavo, Vera Worthy, Mac's Jimmy, Bing Crosby, Waipahi, Passing By and Royal Guy. Two others, Renegade and Imperial Jade, now owned in tho Waikato, have done their racing in the South, although Renegade had a raco at Thames, where ho attracted some attention *ith a creditable third in tho Omahu Handicap.

With the exception of Bing Crosby. Passing By and Royal Guy. who have revealed good form in the South, the visitors have previously raced at Auckland, where To Roto and Short Wave won. To Roto also scored at Thames and Short Wave at Hamilton. Steel King ran second at Epsom last month and followed with a fine victory at Thames. Vera Worthy, a winner at Thames last season, was also placed at Epsom. Waipahi and Mac's Jimmy wero unsuccessful on previous visits. The visiting contingent will find strong opposition from the northern horses, many of whom displayed winning form at recent meetings. The Auckland winners, Alvis, Charles Rex, Erua Peter. Our McKinnoy, Moko Direct, Josedalo Dictator mid Double Peter, are again engaged and all are capable of good efforts.

Country Jewel, Torpedo King, Bon Haven, Village Lass and Flower Potts were successful at Thames, their form suggesting fine prospects of future successu Cyone Girl won at Hutt Park, where Bins Crosby, revealed brilliance in winning the Wellington Handicap, i'A miles, after failing in tho W ilford Memorial Handicap. I'A miles, won by Happy Locandu, with Grand Dam.* second. In addition, there are many listed who secured place-money at Epsom and Thames and they are likely to show improvement. Of the Epsom place-getters, Josedalo Grattan, Bedford, Appomattox, Modern Lady, Cloverdale and Northern Smile created a good impression. A.t Thames Exporter. Eycnew, Paul Parrish, Double Peter, Symphony., Oxford, Davo Opal, Renegade, Kote Kura and Club King were prominent, and they can bo expected to again raco well. There are also a number who revealed very fino form toward tho end of last season and whose presence should give added interest. Tho most notnblo aro lUngefinder, Davey Day, Truo Guide. Neutrality, Peter's Find, Stiirgum, Our Jewel, Sir lon.v, Cloverdale, Mali Jong and Parrish Lad. With so many horses of even calibre, the contests should bo keen and. spectacular, with fancies in each event taking a wide rang*.
