THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE AUSTRALIAN LEADERS WEAKEN The recent setback to Australian shares was reflected in trading on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, in the first business for nearly six weeks A.C.I, registered a fall of 4s 6d on sale at 47s Gd, while Colonial Sugars were marked down 20s on the last business early in September. Levels for Broken Hill Proprietary were weaker, offers breaking to .'s9s 9'd. New Zealand stocks remained strong. Bank of New Zealands hardened on sale and there was a substantial strengthening of Bycrofts on the levels, but generally the market tone was quiet.
