REPLY TO PROTEST Tho statement that there; was no possibility of the board discharging sewage into the Tainaki River was made by the chairman, .Mr. .). A. C. Allum, at a meeting of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Hoard yesterday. The Auckland Harbour Preservation Society had written protesting against the proposal to discharge sewage from a projected State housing scheme in the Tamaki West area and trade waste from the West field district as a temporary expedient until the major drainage scheme comes into operation. They suggested that the status quo be maintained and that the Brown's Island and Tamaki River schemes be held ill abeyance, the society being opposed to any further harbour pollution. Tho chairman said the society could be advised that there was no possibility of the board draining into tho Tamaki River.
