STOPPED QUEEN'S CAR

AIRMAN OBTAINS LIFT LONDON. Sept. 20 Aircraftman Aubrey Thomas Ranee, of Luton, was hitch-hiking home from a West Country training station when a car approached. He made a sign and it stopped. To bis surprise he found that the passengers were Queen Mary and the Duchess of Kent. Not only did the Royal party give him a lift, but insisted on his sitting with them instead of with the chauffeur. lie travelled with them lor 20 miles into Marlborough. The airman's good fortune continued when he hailed another ear. The occupant took him on to London, entertained him at dinner at- an hotel and afterward proffered him a ten shilling note, which, however, he gratefully declined.
