ROBBERY CHARGE

TWO MEN ON TRIAL A third trial of Thomas Leslie Daley, soldier, aged 20 Mr. Noble), and Ernest Sidney Porter, aged 20 (Mr. Hubble), on a joint charge of stealing on the night of May 28 a wallet containing £3O by personal violence from Charles Keith Brown, was begun before .Mr. Justice Fair in the Supreme Court yesterday. There are alternative charges of assault so as to cause actual bodily harm, assault and theft. The prosecution is being conducted by the Crown Prosecutor, Mr. V. R. Meredith. The Crown alleged that the two accused met Brown and three others coming away from a cabaret party and spent some time in their company. Later on, when Brown was alone, the accused set upon him in a dark lane and robbed him of his wallet. Evidence was heard in support of these allegations, and further evidence for the Crown will be called to-day.
