STATE MINES IDLE

DISMISSAL OF TRUCKER AGREEMENT REACHED (0.C.) GREYMOUTH, Monday The Strongman and James State coal mines were both idle to-day owing to a dispute over the dismissal of a trucker from the Strongman mine, but both will resume to-morrow. The trucker concerned was dismissed on Thursday, the reason given being that his work was not satisfactory. When the men employed at the two mines, totalling ab0ut..220, assembled this morning a meeting was held to consider the dismissal and the men decided to return home. A special meeting of the union was held this afternoon, and as a result of a subsequent conference with the manager of the mine it was announced that both mines would resume to-morrow, a satisfactory settlement having been arranged. The Liverpool State mine, which'was idle on Friday as a result of heating in the Morgan east section (No. 1 level), resumed to-day.
