FLEET AIR ARM
COMMISSION GAINED Promotion to the rank of sublieutenant in the Fleet Air Arm has been gained by John Lawrance Nicholls, according to advice received by his father. Major G H. Nicholls, of the Hnurnki Regiment.
Sub-Lieutenant Nicholls was educated at the Mount Albert Grammar School and prior to enlisting was a member of the reporting staff of the Herald. He left New Zealand in October of last year to join the Fleet Air Arm and was later transferred to Canada, where he has been getting advanced training, accompanied by his friend Sub-Lieutenant Darrell Hayter, also a former employee of the Herald, whose promotion was recently announced.
