NORTHERN MAORI SEAT

NATIONAL CANDIDATE The National Party has approved of the choice of Mr. Eru Pou, of Kaikohc. as its candidate for the Northern Maori seat. Mr. Pou. who is 44, was born in the Kaikohe district, and was educated at St. Stephen's College. Auckland. He was engaged in farming for some years, until be joined the Native Department ten years ago. He was prominent in the organisation of the 1940 Waitangi celebrations, and is widely known among his people. He served on the Bay of Islands Maori Council for five years and has always been keenly interested in Maori affairs. The sitting member is the Hon. P. Jv. Paikea (Government).
