THE FISHING SEASON

PROSPECTS IN WASKATO (0.c.) HAMILTON, Wednesday Prospects for the fishing season, which opened in the Waikato to-day. are regarded as being satisfactory. There has been a fairly pood rainfall during the last two months, and ample trout teed is believed to be available. The trout are in good condition, particularly in the Waikato at Lake Arapuni and lower downstream. Owing to the petrol restrictions, comparatively few anglers are expected to fish the rivers and streams, and there has been a diminution in the number of licences so far applied for. No reports of fishing expeditions to-day have so far come to hand.
