ROTORUA, Tuesday Since the closing of most of the gates in the new dam at the Waikato River outlet at Taupo the level of Lake Taupo has risen to an appreciable extent, according to the conservator of fish and game, Mr. A. Kean. He said he had made an inspection of the Taupo area last week and had noticed that grass and weeds formerly above water level were now below it. Heavy rain had brought about a rise of 3ft. in the level of the Tongariro River during the week, but it iiad later fallen again.
