SEATS FOR WOMEN
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL GOVERNMENT'S PLAN AUTHORISING MEASURE (S.R.) WELLINGTON. Tuesday The appointment of' women as members of the Legislative Council is authorised by a clause in the Statutes Amendment Hill, which was introduced into the House of Representatives late to-night. Appointments to the Council are for seven years. Mrs. M. M. Dreaver, M.P-, recently intimated that she intended to introduce a hill providing for tin 1 appointment of women to the Legislative Council. The bill now before the House gives the necessary power.
